English for Hospitality & Tourism Co-op
This course is designed for students where English as a Second Language. The program will provide the participants with the confidence to develop an introductory level knowledge of the hospitality and tourism industry, prepare for employment opportunities in the hospitality or tourism industry in Canada, and possibly continue their education in diploma program at Canadian Tourism College.
Upon the successful completion of the inclass portion of this program, the student should be able to complete a 3 month paid co-op work experience equal to the number of in class training hours in a related hospitality or tourism company. Additionally, students will have with the enhanced English language skills and knowledge level such that they can confidently assimilate into the non-ESL programs available at CTC in the classroom environment.

Growth in the Tourism Industry is continuing. The need for skilled workers to fill these positions by employers continues to grow with the increasing demand of people who travel. It is important that those interested in a career in this sector have a good basic understanding of the Tourism Industry. Due to the attraction of studying in Vancouver & Canada and because of the diversity in ethnic backgrounds, many students enrolling in tourism training programs have English as a Second Language. Students may be unfamiliar with Canadian culture, methods of instruction and the day-today interaction with Canadian students in a training institute like Canadian Tourism College.
The English for Tourism Certificate program is designed to provide students with background information on the Tourism Industry in Vancouver and Canada. This program will provide you the confidence as a student to continue your education in some of the more comprehensive and in-depth programs at the College like the Travel & Tourism Diploma endorsed by CITC to the highest 5 star level and by IATA with an additional credential - Diploma in Travel & Tourism Foundations, the Flight Attendant Pre-Employment Diploma Program, the Hospitality and Resort Management or Business Management Diploma, the Adventure Tourism Diploma or Business Diploma just to name a few. This program will help you to become familiar with the teaching methods used in Canadian colleges in an adult learning environment.
